Leard Huggins - President/Head Coach

Leard Huggins is an avionics engineer at Boeing in Philadelphia. Leard rowed in high school and as an undergrad at Cornell University where he was Commodore of the men's Heavyweight team.  Also, he has volunteered in the local sports community, most recently as Parent Rep for the Science Park swim team.  Leard is excited to help grow the sport of rowing in State College.  SCAR has reignited his love of rowing and he has been enjoying sculling and exploring the local waterways over the last couple of years.

John O'Brien - Vice President

John O'Brien is a materials engineer in the powder metals industry. As an undergrad at Penn State, John fell in love with the sport, rowing all four years, and continued training for post-collegiate competition at Penn A.C. on Philadelphia's Boathouse Row. Coming back to State College, the chance to give back to the community through State College Area Rowing presented itself and there was no way to turn down this opportunity to develop love of the sport.

Dan Eck - Equipment Chair

Daniel Eck has been a part of the rowing community since 1970 when he started rowing with Villanova University and was a 4 year team member.  After graduation in 1974,  He joined Malta Boat Club in Philadelphia and remains a member today.  In 2013, he became a licensed assistant referee with US Rowing, #1284. When not rowing in Philadelphia, he rows a recreational single at Lake Perez at Shavers Creek.
